This past week,
my brother Baltazar -the one in middle of the poster-
and his band The Red Rum Orchestra were rehearsing in Correns.
It made the days a bit more cheerful and lively.
I couldn't really define them,
but it's more rock than folk, but still not totally rock either...
A nice mix of styles and personalities!

They play on saturday the 14th of january at 9pm/21h
in Hyères (83-France) at Théâtre Denis (12 cours de Strasbourg).

Just stumbled upon that song of Lana del Rey, made me think of my grand-mother. She is the wisest person I know. An artist. Always listening, always saying the right thing. She is 85 and still works on a new book. She wrote lots of them, about weaving, natural dye, minerals... My cousin Dóra wrote an article about them here.

Little story: she never smoke in her whole life, but one cigarette and there is a photo of it.

On 9/11/11, after spending the afternoon at Ground zero, we didn't feel like going out to party. We ate in Chinatown and headed to the Brooklyn Academy of Music for a movie. When we arrived there, we found out that there was a free screening of Woody Allen's Manhattan. We decided to go for it. What an original way to pay hommage to the City and its People. It was moving, beautiful and funny too. Surely an other unforgettable moment we spent in New York...

The last day in NY, we went to Coney Island. Was a funnily quiet place (middle of september), except for a DJ on the boardwalk (!) in the middle of the afternoon, with people dancing and all...

It must have been something at the beginning of the XXth Century!

Makes me think that I've been watching Boardwalk Empire during the past 2 weeks. The plot, the set, the actors, the music, the COSTUMES!!!, everything makes it a good series! Highly recomended!

Mardi midi je serai à New York. Mais avant ça, the BIG mission, c'est de faire la valise intelligemment (je la fais aujourd'hui car je pars demain pour Bruxelles et de là je m'envole mardi matin). Parce que hein, what do you take to NEW YORK???? Ben oui, t'arrives à NY en pleine Fashion week, t'as pas envie de ressembler à une plouc! Mais en même temps, je ne risque pas de me trimballer en talons de 12 (en même temps j'en ai même pas:)). En effet, je compte bien arpenter le bitume en long, en large et en travers... Donc re-mission, avoir du style en sneakers quand on ne fais pas 1m80 et 55kg! Allez, on est confiante mamzelle, on fait ce qu'on veut avec des vêtements, et puis hein, il y des soucis bien plus grave dans la vie.

Hello after maybe 10 days..!

What I like when I'm home, is that I do very simple but satisfying things. For example, two days ago, after a quick dip in the river (to cool myself down-it's 40ºC here!), my mum and I went to pick some figs-about 10 kilos! They were so ripe, that some were already drying on the tree!

Back home, my mother splited the loot and took 5 kilos to her symposium in Italy. Now alone here, I bought 5 kilos of sugar to cook some jam.

So voilà, my jam is ready now (1kg of sugar for 1kg of fruits=cook on medium heat for 1h), just to fill the pots and wait...and eat! Yum!

The monsters who used to watch my childhood bedroom are now watching the cooking process of delicious foods...

I know I've gone missing for a couple of weeks, but between Kungfu summer camp and packing and travelling back home, I simply neglected the use of a computer... So here I am, in Correns with my family and a very nice guest: the sun!!! It is peacefull and quiet (when people don't fight on the main square) and the sound of the fountains is so relaxing. I'm enjoying very simple activities, for example, now I'm going for a dip in the river to cool down a bit...

Because when we where in Liverpool we did very "unusual" things, we had a massive brunch in The Rockafellas, a 50's american style diner. I just thought it would be a sort of training before I try a real one overseas. And it was pretty good, with the Dirty Dancing original soundtrack to make you feel just a tiny bit nostalgic...

The first night in Liverpool, we struggled to find where to eat, and there, just around the corner of our hostel, we found that charming restaurant: The Quarter.

I think Liverpool is hiding it's pleasures, because we damn tried -walked our feet off, ask people, etc.. - but couldn't find any live gigs or cultural events in the center... We had a good time though, Liverpudlian sure know how to party (after midnight), and the city is photogenic!

Here's the dress. I got it from Wolf & Gipsy, my favorite vintage shop in Brighton. As I said, it is made of a brilliant thick cotton, that keep you warm and cool at the same time. I can perfectly imagine wearing it in the summer evening breeze on the porch of le Cabanon, listening to the crickets and the leaves' murmur...

I'm naughty. I know. But yesterday, on a "no particular need or desire to buy anything, but let's go for a walk in town" I popped into Delilah (expensive shop) in Lewes, just because there is a sale at the moment. Of course I was counting on that lovely encounter. They where there, at the back of the shop, on their own... Aren't these Repetto shoes crazy??? Their price was craaaaazy too (crazily cheap:)! I thought it would be so sad to leave them....

I've always been swinging between the "girly-girl" and the "tomboy". As a child, my favorite film was The Magnificent Seven. My tomboy side dreamt of wild rides on the Mexican frontier, but my girly-girl side was madly/deeply in love with Steve McQueen a.k.a Vin. Isn't he gorgeous in his pink shirt? Max and I watched a bit of the movie yesterday, and ahhh, my love is still intact...
